This hairstyle works best with hair at least shoulder length.

Step 1. Firstly, your hair needs to be clean. If it's been washed within the 48 hours and is free of knots and grease, as well as still being soft (as opposed to dry and straw-like), then you should be okay and can skip to step two. If it doesn't meet this criteria, wash your hair with products that enhance curly hair styles and blowdry with a paddle brush. You should apply an anti-frizz product before drying to avoid your hair becoming static.

Step 2. Part your hair slightly to the right of your hairline and plug in a large-barrel curling iron. Clip the uppermost layer on top of your hair and then begin to curl the hair left underneath. The curls dont need to all be evenly sized, but you should curl them all in the same direction so that they flick outwards in the same way. Apply hairspray to hold the curls in place.

Step 3. Release the hair that was clipped above your head and heat a pair of straighteners. Finger-comb the hair that's just been released - don't use an actual comb or brush because, if you brush the curls you've just styled, this could ruin the style. Once the straighteners are hot, take an inch section of hair and straighten it, gently twisting the straighteners upwards once the straighteners are halfway down the hair. This should cause a flick to form at the end of the hair. You want to be careful whilst doing this, graduating the flick against the curls you made earlier. Have a look at the picture of Selena to see what I mean. Repeat this around the layer of hair.

Step 4. As ever, shine-spray, hairspray, anti-frizz serum etc. is optional.

Enjoy your new hairstyle!
