Step 1. Wash your hair with a shampoo and conditioner that helps increase shine and reduce frizz.

Step 2. Apply a heat protecting serum throughout hair, especially on the ends of hair. Spread evenly. Brush your hair out and create a side part.

Step 3. Blow dry hair as straight as possible using a paddle brush. Do not blow dry with too much of a volume boost, because you may not want to if you are replicating Selena's hairstyle.

Step 4. After your hair is fully dry, run 2 inch sections of hair through a flat iron and straighten them.

Step 5. To add some extra shine, add a shine spray to make it glossy and work it through your hair using your fingers.

Step 6. Follow your part all the way back and create two equal sections of hair and gather each one into a ponytail and secure. Do so to both sides. Use a creme/tan color band like Selena's in the picture if you want.

Step 7. Add a light mist of hairspray to lock in your style.
